Bröd och Vänner, known for sourdough bred, pastries, it’s excellent coffee (have a espresso machine) and art exhibitions on their walls. Guests at the hostel have 10% of discount. You get at ticket at the reception of the hostel to obtain the 10% of discount. Location: Nobelvägen 44A (Nobeltorget), about 4-5 minutes walk from the hostel.

Leve, a well known vegan bakery in town. Known for sourdough bread and pastries. Listed in the “White guide” (a Swedish equivalent to the “Michelin guide”).

Spoonery, A very popular restaurant well known for Swedish meat bolls, stews from all over the world, desserts (including vegan based desserts like their amazing vegan brownie) and sicilian ice cream. They also have gluten free, vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Location: Sankt Knuts väg 7, about 5-7 minutes from the hostel.

Nobel Falafel, known for having amazing falafel for a grate price. Location: Nobelvägen 58, about 1 minute from the hostel.

Supermarkets
Mido Quality, a neighborhood supermarket with good prices, welcoming staff and good opening hours. During weekends 24/7 (Friday and Saturdays). 4.4 of 5 on Google reviews.
Location: Amiralsgatan 66, about 3-4 minutes from the hostel by walking.

Willys, a well known “store chain” in Sweden. They have both organic and non organic food to a good price that won’t rob your wallet.
Location: Celsiusgatan 38, about 12 minutes by walking. Bus 3 (Ringlinjen via Värnhem) stops about 350-400 meters away from store at the bus stop called “Celsiusgården” (the bus can be payed on board the bus with your regular bank card, 32 SEK / 3.2 Euro per person for an 1 hour ticket. 1 person per bankcard).

Location: Södra Förstadsgatan 83, close by the Möllevång square and the Triangeln. About 18-20 minutes walk from the hostel. Sightseeing
Pildammsparken, one of the largest parkes in Malmö. Known for it’s large dam with fountain (litten up with different colors during night time) and a avenue with large trees on both the side of the road.

Malmö Hus (Malmo castle), museum with a lot of different exhibitions. On the backside of the castle you find a botanical garden.

Kungs- och slottsparken (King- and castle park), Large parks next to each other with channel, pond and a lot of different plants and trees not usually found in Sweden. Always open to the public.

Västra hamnen (West harbor), a modern part of Malmö with a large skateboard park, Turning Torso the skyscraper, Scaniaparken and Daniaparken (parks along the waters), the musical hills, many restaurants and the beach promenade.

Hyllie (the last train stop before Denmark and going south of town), here you find a large mall and it has a outpost on the rooftop with binoculars, Malmo arena (event arena), restaurants and more.

Ribersborgskallbadhus (the public cold bathhouse) and the beach, the bathhouse is a historical and popular place in Malmö and was inaugurated 1898. Their are known for the there sauna, wood fired hot tubs and the possibility to take a swim in the ocean year around. The beach is a very popular place to spend some time during a hot summer day or to do exercise along the beautiful beach promenade.

Kids friendly recommendations, All the bakeries listed above and Spoonery are kids friendly. The mall at the Hyllie and Triangeln are also kids friendly.
Parks and playgrounds for kids:
Mary Anderssons lekplats (playground), located at most 100 meter (120-130 yards) from the hostel.
Teaterlekplatsen (playground), located next to “Pildamsparken” (one of the largest parks in Malmö).
Varvsparken (part of the west harbour), large park with playground for kids.

Other things worth mentioning
Malmö Musikaffär (Malmö music store), One of Sweden’s oldest music store with anno from 1920s and one of few stores in Sweden that are totally independent. They have a large selection of music- and studio gear, instruments from leading manufactures from all over the world. The staff is AWESOME!

Malmö Opera House, An opera house with anno 1940’s. They have around 120 shows per year within opera and musicals. There’s also a restaurant in the opera house. Location: Östra Rönneholmsvägen 20, about 25 minutes walk from the hostel.
